I fell head over heels for Little Peach Co.'s work while I was on my
own expedition for wedding invitations. In the end, I ultimately opted
to design my own suite, but I couldn't help but love the pops of color
and the intricate letterpress designs the Brisbane group produced with
such ease.
Little Peach Co. specializes in hand-made designs for weddings, celebration stationery and business cards.
Director Dave Atkinson said it all started seven years ago when he began designing wedding
invitations for friends and family.
"My wife and I
started Little Peach as a creative outlet - I was an advertising
creative by day, letterpress designer and printer by night," he said. "I
started out in my garage, but in late 2012 I took a leap of faith from
part-time hobby to full-time passion. I'm lucky that I can wake up every
day and really look forward to getting into it at work. "
Atkinson said the best part about his career is being able to create
something special and unique for each client - whether it's an
exquisite invitation for an engaged couple or a
memorable business card for a small business.
The art of letterpress is what Little Peach Co. is known for.
"We like to joke that the print shed
out back has become my little man cave," Atkinson said. "I love holing up with the
plates, stinky inks, and temperamental Bertha (our 1965 Heidelberg
Platen) to perfect each printed piece on a one-by-one basis. It's
obviously a time-intensive process and a labor of love - but it's why we
do what we do."
When it comes to
wedding invitations, Atkinson suggests that couples should send
invitations at least six to eight weeks prior
to the wedding, adding more time for a destination wedding or if there
will be many out-of-town guests.
"Here at Little Peach, we pride
ourselves on quick turnaround and don't mind shaking our tail feathers
for busy brides," Atkinson said. "But you know what they say, it's always 'the sooner the
better'."
Little Peach Co. also works with brides near and far.
"If you can't stop in to our
storefront on Stanley Street in Woolloongabba, we'll happily discuss
ideas for your Big Day via email, phone, or Skype," Atkinson said.
